The 2008 META Photo Contest

The Medical Equipment and Technology Association is once again holding a photo contest. We hope to make this an annual event and a fun diversion from the everyday routine. Two $100.00 grand prizes will be awarded, for Best Photo and Peoples Choice. There will also be five $50.00 prizes awarded for Best in Category.

• Peoples Choice: The winner of this award will be chosen by the attendees at the 2008 MD Expo in October.
   
• Best Photo: The best overall photo as chosen by a panel of guest judges from our industry.
   

Winners from these categories will also be chosen by the guest judges.

• Biomeds in Action: A biomed performing his or her duties.
   
• Teamwork: Examples of biomed teamwork.
   
• Biomed Humor: Humorous photos involving our profession.
   
• The Dirtiest Job: Examples of jobs to avoid.
   
• Open Category: Everything else, aka miscellaneous.
   

Rules:

1. The deadline for submitting entries is Friday, October 17th, 2008. META membership is not required to enter.
   
   
2. The Peoples Choice winner will be chosen by popular vote of the attendees at the 2008 MD Expo.
   
   
3. All other winners will be decided by a panel of volunteer judges. The judges' decisions will be final.
   
   
4. Winners of each prize will be chosen from among all entries.
   
   
5. The Peoples Choice and Best Photo winners will receive a $100.00 cash award.
   
   
6. Of the remaining entries, One winner will be chosen for each theme category. Each category winner will receive a $50.00 cash award.
   
   
7. Photo size should be at least 300 by 400 pixels (see example below), and submitted in high quality JPEG, PNG, BMP or TIFF format. You may submit your entry in a ZIP file to reduce the file size.
   
   
   
   
8. Significant image modifications are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to adding elements from other images, use of artistic filters, adding frames, watermarks, signatures, copyright notices, or logos.
   
   
9. Minor image enhancements may be allowed as long the enhancements appear natural, and do not constitute adding or replacing elements of the picture. For example glare or red-eye removal, and cropping the final image is allowed.
   
   
10. You may submit more than one photo, however each photo must be submitted as a separate entry.
    
    
11. META Board Members, officers and contest judges are welcome to submit entries, but will not be eligible to win prizes.
    
    
12. All entries will become property of META, and may be used for various purposes consistent with META's goals, such as promoting our profession.
